When people start searching for where to elope in Florida, they usually end up seeing the same thing over and over again: beaches. And don’t get me wrong… I love Florida’s coastline. Florida is one of the best places to elope in the US. But a quick beach ceremony doesn’t have to be the begging and end of your elopement! Often times, eloping couple’s don’t realize there is so much more to do in Florida than a quick, in-and-out elopement.
But as a Florida native, I can tell you there is so much more to this state than sand and sunsets.
One of the biggest advantages of growing up here is knowing the spots that visitors often miss. Some of the most meaningful and beautiful places to elope in Florida aren’t the locations that show up on the first page of a travel guide. They’re the hidden gardens, historic buildings, crystal-clear springs, and charming streets that feel uniquely Florida.
If you’re looking for hidden gem elopement spots in Florida, this guide is for you. These are my personal top five Florida elopement locations that aren’t the beach. They all offer something different, and each one creates an unforgettable experience for couples who want a wedding day that feels intentional, relaxed, and true to them.
If you’re planning your own Florida elopement, these locations deserve a spot on your list!
And if you want to work with someone who gets Florida and can recommend epic locations for your day, you’re in the right place. Click here to see my Florida elopement pricing and packages.

If I had to choose one category of location that surprises couples the most, it’s Florida’s natural springs.
Most people don’t realize Florida has hundreds of freshwater springs throughout the state. The water stays crystal clear year-round, creating a setting that feels almost unreal.
The challenge? Not all springs are created equal.
As a Florida native, I know which locations actually photograph well, which ones get overcrowded, and which ones provide the peaceful atmosphere couples are usually looking for when they envision an intimate elopement.
Natural springs offer:
Many couples searching for best places to elope in Florida overlook springs because they simply don’t know they exist.
That’s a mistake. Some spring locations feel more like a tropical jungle than traditional Florida, making your elopement all the more unique.
The experience feels adventurous without requiring a major hike.
You can exchange vows beside the water, paddleboard afterward, kayak through winding waterways, or even jump into the spring together for some truly unforgettable photos.
For couples wanting an experience-focused Florida elopement, springs create opportunities that beaches simply can’t match.
Springs often have capacity limits and seasonal restrictions.
Working with someone who knows the area can make a huge difference when planning timelines, permits, and visitor traffic. Thinking the springs are right for you and your love? Contact me to start planning your elopement day.

Some couples love the simplicity of a courthouse wedding. And honestly, I completely understand why! There’s something timeless about signing your marriage license and officially becoming spouses in a straightforward, meaningful way.
The Sarasota Courthouse is one of my favorite options for couples who want that classic courthouse experience, but don’t want their day to feel rushed or ordinary. This is a great starting point for couples, and with such a central location to so many awesome activities, we can build out an elopement timeline more personal to you. Whether you’re a more introverted or extroverted couple, there’s great options throughout Sarasota to elevate your elopement day, your way!
The architecture provides beautiful backdrops without feeling overly formal, the process is simple, and the location is convenient.
Most importantly, it gives couples flexibility!
One of the biggest misconceptions about courthouse weddings is that the day ends after signing paperwork. It doesn’t have to. You can still enjoy all the classic elements of a courthouse elopement while elevating your day!
Some of my favorite courthouse elopements include:
The ceremony can be “simple”… while the rest of the day becomes something absolutely iconic.
When couples ask me about places to elope in Florida that feel effortless, a Sarasota Courthouse elopement often comes to mind.
You get the legal side handled easily, while still creating a day that feels intentional and memorable.

The Ringling Museum is one of those places that immediately feels special. Every corner offers something beautiful, every pathway feels cinematic, and every photo looks timeless.
For couples looking for best places to elope in Florida, The Ringling consistently stands out.
The property combines:
You can move through multiple environments without ever leaving the property. One moment you’re surrounded by dramatic architecture. The next you’re walking through lush gardens. Truly stunning.
Many venues require extensive decorating to create an elevated atmosphere.
The Ringling doesn’t… as the location itself does most of the work! Couples who want a sophisticated aesthetic often fall in love with this location immediately.
The architecture and grounds create a sense of timelessness that works beautifully in photographs.
Few locations offer so many unique backdrops in one place.
If your vision includes elegance, art, and beautiful scenery, this location deserves serious consideration.
PRO TIP: Ringling ceremonies can be expensive for a limited amount of time. The alternative? Choose a more affordable or permit-free elopement location (they do exist in Florida!), and purchase a photography permit for The Ringling to take your portraits! (P.S., I help you figure out the legal side to these things and can provide permit-free elopement locations, making your elopement a lot less stressful!). This is one of my top tips for couples interested in the Ringling for their elopement day.

Whenever someone says Key West, most people immediately picture beaches. And yes… the water can be incredible.
But that’s actually not why I recommend it. Key West is one of my favorite hidden gem elopement spots in Florida because there’s so much to do beyond the shoreline.
It has a personality unlike anywhere else in Florida.
The colorful (and very walkable/bikeable!) streets, the historic homes, the tropical landscaping, the incredible food, the island atmosphere… I could go on!
All of it comes together to create an experience rather than simply a ceremony location.
One reason Key West ranks among my favorite places to elope in Florida is because couples can create a full adventure.
Ideas include:
Even though this list focuses on non-beach locations, the crystal-clear water is still part of the magic.
You don’t need to exchange vows on the sand to enjoy everything Key West offers.
Many couples incorporate waterfront portraits, boat excursions, or sunset cruises into their celebration.
That combination gives you the best of both worlds.

If someone asked me for the most romantic location on this list, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens would be near the top.
It’s peaceful, beautiful, and feels completely removed from the outside world.
The gardens offer:
Every season provides something beautiful, and the environment feels natural while still being polished and elegant.
Some couples want a location that feels private and intentional. Marie Selby excels at creating that atmosphere. Instead of crowds and distractions, you’re surrounded by nature.
One thing I love about photographing here is how much variety exists within a relatively compact space. From an eloping couple’s perspective, you can create an entire gallery without repeating backgrounds. That’s a huge advantage for couples planning a Florida elopement focused on meaningful experiences and beautiful imagery, without every photo remaining the same.

Every couple values something different.
Here’s how I typically compare these locations.
The truth is there isn’t one perfect answer to where to elope in Florida.
The best location is the one that reflects your personality and the kind of experience you want to create together. My superpower? Making each elopement unique and tailored to my couple’s needs. It’s genuinely one of my favorite things about what I do.

The most memorable elopements usually aren’t the most crowded or trendy spaces. They’re the ones that feel personal. That’s why I often recommend hidden gem elopement spots in Florida over more popular tourist locations. When you remove distractions, timelines become easier, the day feels less rushed, and you can focus on each other instead of managing crowds.
As a Florida native, helping couples find these lesser-known locations is one of my favorite parts of planning an elopement experience.
